
has been teaching music to students of all ages and abilities for more than 20 years. She started teaching piano lessons under the direction of her piano teacher at the age of 15 and quickly built a large studio. She has taught various piano, music, and singing classes in Utah, California, and Illinois. She is the founder of the Geneva Children’s Choir, which she formed while living in Chicago for 13 years.
Julia has several piano books published by The FJH Music Company, which she has co-written with her husband, Kevin Olson. Kevin and Julia spent more than 15 years developing, writing, and piloting both the Piano Made FUN piano curriculum and The Perfect Start for Piano curriculum, which are sold in music stores nationwide.
Julia believes that music lessons should be a rewarding experience, filled with a combination of both focused work AND fun. She also believes that music has the unique ability to enhance brain development and satisfy creative, social, and emotional needs of individuals, families, and communities.
